climateers, a sustainable living app start-up, secures EXIST funding
Berlin entrepreneurs, climateers, assisted by CODE University, has successfully applied and received an EXIST Business Start-up grant.
The awarding of the grant will enable the team of three founders, Nick Wüsthoff (CEO), Elias Wolf (CTO) and Nicola Reynolds (CMO), to work full-time on bringing their ‘game-changing’ app to market. The app is designed to empower individuals, working together in groups, to reduce their personal carbon emissions, by illustrating the carbon impact of simple daily choices. The scientific-based app combines behavioral change and realignment of social norms with gamification.
The idea for a behavior change app was discovered during Nick’s bachelor thesis while at CODE University, Berlin. The University encouraged the further development of the idea and was instrumental in supporting and guiding climateers through the application process. They will continue to act as mentor and supporter during the EXIST funding period.
The highly competitive and demanding application process for the EXIST grant took six months to complete and saw the climateers business idea and plan assessed and examined by the project management organisation at EXIST. The grant will provide vital funding to climateers throughout 2021.
